Lake Homes Get Seen From Two Sides

A Hendersonville lake house has a street elevation and a water elevation, and they are rarely the same shape. The lake side is usually the wide one, with long low rooflines, banks of windows, multi-level decks and a dock below. Most companies light the front and stop. If your family and your neighbors spend the season looking at the water side, that is the half that matters.

Wind is the reason lakefront installs fail. Exposure across open water is harder on a display than anywhere inland in Middle Tennessee, and light-duty clips and unsealed connections come apart in the first strong front. We use commercial-grade LED strands, sealed connections and clips rated for the specific edge they sit on.

Away from the water, the Indian Lake side and the newer subdivisions off Main Street are more conventional two-story installs, and the same custom-cut approach applies. Nothing is stapled or nailed into fascia on any of it.

  • Street-side and lake-side elevations designed together
  • Wind-rated attachment for open exposure
  • Docks, decks and railings

Planning the Install

Choosing Between Two Elevations, and Building for Wind

The first real decision on a Hendersonville lake house is where the budget goes. The street elevation is what visitors and neighbours see; the water elevation is what the household actually looks at from October to January, and it is usually the wider and more interesting of the two. Most companies never raise the question. We would rather have the conversation before anything is cut.

Anything on the water side has to be built for the exposure. Open water across Old Hickory Lake gives wind a clear run, and moisture is constant. Sealed connections, clips rated for the specific edge and correctly protected outdoor circuits are not upgrades here, they are the baseline for a display that is still intact in January.

Decks, rails and dock structures bring their own requirements. These are the surfaces people actually touch and walk past in the dark, so runs are secured out of the way, terminations are kept clear of standing water, and GFCI protection is confirmed rather than assumed.

Away from the water, the Indian Lake side and the newer subdivisions off Main Street are conventional two-storey installs, and several of them carry HOA display rules worth checking before the design is settled.

  • Street and lake elevations planned as a choice
  • Sealed, wind-rated hardware on exposed frontage
  • GFCI and outdoor circuits confirmed on dock and deck runs

Red Nose Lites are the best in Nashville!! Would definitely recommend!!!

Hunter Hendrickson

I reached out to Red Nose after previously using a different provider who didn’t meet my expectations. Working with Miles on the design team to make my house exactly what I wanted was pleasant and easy. Their crew was out soon after to install and did a fantastic job. When a couple lights went out a week before Christmas; they came out the same day to fix them. I highly recommend

Rebecca Brauer

Fantastic company and service! Riley is the best! I was sad to see the lights come down.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you light the lake-facing side and the dock?

Yes. On lakefront properties we design the water elevation, decks, railings and dock alongside the street side, because that is the view your family actually uses through the season.

Will lights hold up to wind off Old Hickory Lake?

That exposure is exactly why we use commercial-grade strands, sealed connections and edge-rated clips rather than light-duty retail hardware. If anything does come loose, our 24-hour service guarantee covers it.

How much does Christmas light installation cost?

On a lake house the first cost question is whether you light the street side, the water side or both, because they are effectively two elevations. Exposure also means wind-rated hardware on anything facing open water. Call (615) 595-9686 and we will scope it with you.
