Christmas Lighting in Forest Hills
Forest Hills is heavily wooded, and that single fact decides how a display has to be designed here.

Local Knowledge
When the Trees Are the Display
Homes in Forest Hills sit back from the road on large wooded lots off Old Hickory Boulevard and Granny White Pike, often behind a screen of mature hardwoods. From the street you frequently cannot see much of the roofline at all. Lighting only the roof on a property like that is money spent on something nobody sees.
The designs that work here lead with the approach. Drive lining, entry and gate lighting, and full-scale lighting of the specimen trees near the road carry the display, with the roofline as the finish rather than the feature. Getting that balance right is a design judgement, which is why we walk the property and look at it from the street before quoting.
The terrain is rolling and the driveways are long, so access and cable routing need planning. Our crews are insured for the steep pitches and the tree work, and everything is commercial-grade LED backed by a 24-hour service guarantee.
- Wooded lots and deep setbacks
- Large-scale tree and drive lighting
- Rolling terrain and long driveways
Planning the Install
Designing to the Sightline, Not the Elevation Drawing
The first thing we do on a Forest Hills property is stand in the road. On lots this wooded, off Old Hickory Boulevard and Granny White Pike, the view of the house from the street is often a few gaps between mature hardwoods rather than a clear elevation. The display has to be designed for what is actually visible from those gaps, which is rarely what the front of the house looks like up close.
Tree lighting is skilled work rather than a bigger ladder. Wrapping a mature hardwood means choosing which limbs carry light and which stay dark, keeping spacing consistent as the diameter changes, and leaving room for the tree to move in wind without the strand binding. Done properly one tree can anchor an entire frontage.
Ground runs on a wooded lot need protecting. Leaf litter, mowing lines and the animals that come with this much tree cover all take a toll on cable that is simply laid on the surface, so runs are routed deliberately and secured rather than trailed across the lawn.
Where the budget has a limit, we spend it at the road end. Entry, drive and two or three well-lit specimen trees will do more for a Forest Hills property than a roofline nobody can see through the canopy.
- Design set from the actual street sightline
- Specimen tree lighting as the anchor
- Protected, planned cable routing on wooded lots

Frequently Asked Questions
You can barely see our house from the road. Is a display worth it?
Yes, but the design has to change. On wooded Forest Hills lots we lead with the drive, entry and the trees near the road, and treat the roofline as the finish. That is what people actually see.
Do you light large mature trees?
Yes, at full scale. On properties like these the specimen trees usually carry the whole display.
How much does Christmas light installation cost?
On a wooded Forest Hills lot most of the cost sits in the trees and the approach, because that is what is actually visible from the road. Tree lighting is priced by size and reach rather than by strand length. Call (615) 595-9686 and we will look at it from the street first.
