Estate Frontages and Historic Detail
The lake communities on the Gallatin side of Old Hickory Lake, including the Fairvue and Foxland areas, are built around long approach drives and wide columned frontages. Those houses are designed to be seen from a distance, which changes the whole lighting plan. Roofline alone will not carry it. Column wraps, entry lighting, drive lining and lit specimen trees are what make an estate elevation read from the gate.
Closer to the historic square the housing stock is much older, with original wood trim, deep porches and decorative detail that is worth lighting carefully and easy to damage carelessly. We attach with clips sized to the edge and never put a fastener into historic trim or fascia.

Planning the Install
Lake Exposure, Older Wiring and the Drive from Nashville
Gallatin installs split into two quite different jobs, and they fail for different reasons. On the Old Hickory Lake side, around Fairvue and Foxland, the enemy is exposure. Open water gives wind a clean run at a display, and light-duty clips and unsealed joints are the first things to let go when a front comes through.
Nearer the public square the housing is much older, and the limiting factor is usually electrical rather than structural. Exterior outlets on a century-old house are often few, sometimes not GFCI-protected, and not always on a circuit with room for a display. We check that during the survey, because finding out on install day means a display that cannot be switched on.
Estate frontages need the approach lit to work at all. A columned elevation set behind a long drive reads from the gate inward: drive lining, entry, column wraps, then the roof. Reversing that order is the most common way an expensive estate display ends up looking thin.
Distance is a real factor in Sumner County. We schedule Gallatin work in blocks so a service call in December is a short trip rather than an hour each way, and our 24-hour in-season guarantee covers this area on the same terms as Nashville.
